Afghanistan is at the top of DFID’s and the UK government’s foreign policy priorities, with significant UK resources being devoted to security, development and diplomacy work.
DFID Afghanistan is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to work in one of the most challenging and rewarding country offices. Afghanistan is at the top of DFID’s and the UK government’s foreign policy priorities, with significant UK resources being devoted to security, development and diplomacy work.
Over the last year DFID Afghanistan has been significantly stepping up its efforts to strengthen programme controls in this uniquely challenging working environment. We are focussed on ensuring that DFID funding is safeguarded in reaching its intended beneficiaries as well as ensuring value for money and results.
Improving commercial management is an integral part of this agenda. The successful applicant will bring their experience to bear in upskilling the office in commercial management. They will have the chance to develop a new area of work, namely gaining a more in depth knowledge of our partners’ procurement systems and ensure the office develops robust business cases and delivers better projects through a more thorough understanding of procurement risks and mitigating actions. As a new post, this presents an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to help shape their role and responsibilities.
