Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking an Associate to provide administrative and clerical assistance to its Human Resources (HR) Division. This position reports to the Deputy Director and a Specialist and also provides support to other members of the HR Division.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain the employee record lifecycle in the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) including new hire information, updates, and benefit data. Ensure that all employee data is entered and maintained accurately;

2. Assist with the further development, implementation and global rollout of the HRMS;

3. Act as point-person for HRMS operational support and assist with employee trainings on the HRMS;

4. Assist with data entry during open enrollment process and timely processing/monitoring of benefits enrollments, contributions and distributions;

5. Assist in the facilitation of HRW’s annual performance review process;

6. Administer the online Human Resources helpdesk and respond promptly to frequently-asked questions;

7. Maintain HR filing systems, and assist with the development and implementation of electronic personnel files;

8. Assist with HRW’s on boarding and orientation process for employees worldwide including updating orientation materials, creating orientation packets, and guiding benefits enrollment;

9. Assist with monthly payroll reporting and activities;

10. Assist in auditing and paying monthly invoices and bills, including global health benefits and employee insurance reimbursements;

11. Coordinate departmental meetings and organization-wide special events;

12. Assist the HR team on special projects; and

13. Perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field is required.

Experience: Minimum two years of related work experience in an international setting with administrative coordination and MS Office proficiency.

Related Skills and Knowledge:

1. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all level of staff within the organization are required.

2. Excellent client service and support skills are required.

3. Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices is required; experience with a HR Management System (HRMS) is highly desirable.

4. Knowledge of SQL reporting and query tools and practices is required; experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniquesis highly desirable.

5. Ability to create HR forms, organizational charts, various reports, data tracking systems, and marketing materials are required.

6. Good judgment and analytical skills and the ability to solve problems creatively are required.

7. Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.

8. Strong basic mathematical skills as applicable to insurance premiums and payroll are required.

9. Excellent time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks with minimum supervision while maintaining a strong attention to detail is required.

10. Strong oral and written communications skills in English are required; proficiency in another language is desirable.

11. Strong generalist understanding of HR processes and data, including eligibility and enrollment rules, and benefit procedures is desirable.

12. Strong computer knowledge including Windows, MS Office applications (including Access, Visio, Publisher), Adobe Acrobat Standard, MS SQL Server (versions 2005+) and Internet research are required. Experience with NuViewHR, CORT Software Payroll, PeopleTrak and ZenDesk is desirable.

Other: Applicants for this position must possess current US work authorization valid for a minimum of two years from start date.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range starts at $40,310. Human Rights Watch offers comprehensive employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, an outstanding retirement savings plan and twenty (20) days vacation per year.
