International AIDS Society Head, Relation Building and Resource Development

Purpose of the Position This is a key position, based in the IAS headquarters in Geneva, and involving a global responsibility for developing donor relations and partnerships leading to sustained and increased financial resources for the International AIDS Conference, IAS Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention Conference, as well as for IAS core activities including, but not limited to, Policy and Advocacy, Partnerships and Research Promotion. As a member of the Executive Management Board, the post holder will develop a comprehensive program of philanthropic, government donor, and corporate foundation fundraising that builds and sustains IAS relationships and supports. Requirements for the position will include maintenance and development of key contacts and partners, day-to-day execution of fundraising activities, and supervision of the staff of the Relation Building and Resource Development Department. Fundraising and business development in relation to the health sector requires the candidate to be permanently aware of the new developments in relation to HIV and AIDS. In that context, the candidate has to have good knowledge of biology and biochemistry. It is vital, in order to convince prospective donors, to be able to answer the questions in relation to the AIDS/HIV programs developed by IAS and therefore the candidate must have an excellent knowledge of the subject. The post holder will have to work with field offices in different countries in particular in southern Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia. The candidate is required to have a proven professional experience in working with these continents and a good knowledge of their cultural characteristics.
