INTRODUCTION

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB or the Bank) is seeking to recruit an experienced professional to perform the role of Knowledge Management/Public Education (KM/PE) Specialist for its Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) funded Community Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (CDRRF) Project.

CDB is a multi-lateral development finance institution that works in collaboration with its Borrowing Member Countries to promote sustainable, social and economic development within these countries and economic cooperation and integration among them.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager (PM), CDRRF, the objectives of the KM/PE Specialist will be to:

1. Guide the design of appropriate KM/PE strategies for the CDRRF and for the Community Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR)
2. -funded sub-projects.

3. Coordinate the implementation and delivery of the KM/PE outputs and outcomes of the CDRRF and approved sub-projects.

4. Document the success or otherwise of CDRR-supported interventions, providing evidence of impact and demonstrating good value for money as well as for strategically disseminating best practices and lessons learned.

5. Develop programmes for dissemination of information and public education.

The Candidate

1. Eligible candidates should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to

Communications, Information Science, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field with at least three to five years of experience as a knowledge manager, writer, editor, and/or business communicator. Experience in working for an organisation where communicating environmental, disaster risk, social, or development issues and generating knowledge products, was an objective, would be an asset.

2. Candidates must have familiarity with results-based project cycle management and have experience in using different media.

3. The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Barbados.
