Surveillance Detection Coordinator

The U.S. Consulate General in Cape Town is seeking an individual for the position of Surveillance Detection Coordinator in the Regional Security Office (RSO).

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications Required:

NOTE: ALL APPLICANTS MUST ADDRESS EACH SELECTION CRITERION DETAILED BELOW WITH SPECIFIC AND COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION SUPPORTING EACH ITEM.

Items 1- 5 are ALL REQUIRED

1. Education: Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 12) is required.
2. Experience: Two years of military, police or private security experience, including one year prior supervisory experience is required.
3. Language: English level III (good working knowledge) writing/reading/speaking is required; Level III (good working knowledge) in one of other South
African official languages is required.
4. Knowledge:
- Thorough knowledge of surveillance techniques is required.
- Familiarity with normal traffic patterns, pedestrian behavior, Embassy facilities and travel routes is required.
- Knowledge of South African law enforcement is required.
5. Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to manage the work of others in a team environment is required.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports in English is required.
- Ability to liaise with non-USG entities, such as South African law enforcement is required.
- Incumbent must have program management skills and organizational ability.
- Must possess a valid South African drivers license (Code EB).

Job Specification

Basic Function of Position: The Surveillance Detection Coordinator assists the Regional Security Officer in the day-to-day overall operational management of the Surveillance Detection (SD) team and program.
