Pan American Development Foundation IT Manager

The IT Manager is responsible for maintaining and developing all PADF’s information technology systems to ensure peak performance of the organization’s network environment and custom applications. The IT Manager will be responsible for all IT and communications tools vital for PADF staff in their day-to-day work in the field and in headquarters, including computer hardware and software, video conferencing equipment, mobile devices, satellite phones, and our email and related business systems. This position requires thorough technological knowledge as well as a pro-active, service-driven attitude to providing IT solutions for staff members.

Location PADF Headquarters, Washington, D.C.

Supervision The IT Manager is supervised by the Senior Director of Finance & Administration.

Education Required MS/MA degree in a related field with 5-7 years experience; or BS/BA degree with 7-9 years relevant experience.

Language Proficiency Required Ability to effectively communicate in English required; French and/or Spanish preferred.

Work Skills Required: • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word and Outlook. • Strong organization skills and attention to detail. • Superior communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact well with staff. • Demonstrated project management skills, and ability to prioritize competing needs and shifting priorities; • Ability to explain complex technology concepts to all skills levels; • In-depth knowledge and technical support experience in the following technologies: o Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications o Anti-Virus technologies o Blackberry mobile devices o TCP/IP, DNS, and SMTP o Computer Hardware related issues • Knowledge of basic network administration, including network topologies, protocols, routers, NAS servers, and Active Directory. • Experience supporting overseas field operations; • Ability to travel internationally, on occasion;

Major Duties and Responsibilities • Maintain PADF’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies. • Recommend IT strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating organizational needs; identifying problems; evaluating trends and anticipating requirements. • Ensure the integrity and availability of all technology resources through adherence to sound technical and operational best practices. • Manage and collaborate with third party suppliers where appropriate and ensures that vendor performance and provision of services and quality is in line with PADF expectations. • Ensure that IT processes exist, are robust, standardized and support the staff in their day-to-day activities. • Identify and implement IT related improvements to provide a more efficient and effective level of IT service to PADF staff. • Provide training in both hardware and software and evaluates current and future training needs both in HQ and the field to ensure staff have sufficient support to fully utilize tools and systems. • Manage IT budget effectively to optimize use of limited management resources. • Communicate internally with headquarters and field office staff. Foster open and collegial work relationships with all members of PADF staff to ensure high level of IT satisfaction and met needs;
