The School of Engineering & Built Environment wishes to appoint Readers to join the Department of Mechanical, Electrical and Environmental Engineering which offers an impressive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The department provides research, consultancy and bespoke training programmes for industry and is looking for applicants with priority given to the following disciplines:

  • Chemical Sciences,
  • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering,
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Oil and Gas Technologies

This role is to develop and deliver research related activities in SEBE. Applicants will be required to demonstrate leadership in the development of research in Engineering and Built Environment within SEBE, which will include leading and co-coordinating relevant research teams, maintaining a national and international research profile and producing research publications of national/international quality that contribute to the University mission and REF strategy.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD; have strong research reputation and a proven track record in academic leadership. In addition the role holder will also be expected to contribute to a range of UG and PG teaching in areas relevant to discipline and Department. Further essential criteria for this role include experience in supervising Doctoral students and securing funding for cross-disciplinary research projects that contribute directly to the research strategy of the University.
