Salam Institute for Peace and Justice Program Manager

The Salam Institute for Peace and Justice (www.salaminstitute.org) is seeking a Program Manager to be responsible for programmatic aspects of the organization, particularly the Peace through Development (Phase II) program implemented in partnership with the International Relief & Development. The Salam Institute focuses on education, research, and training programs in the fields of peacebuilding and conflict resolution, particularly in an Islamic context. We have several priority projects that this position would be responsible for, including clergy training and community development initiatives in Chad, Niger, and Burkina Faso; and several other projects in the Middle East.

Primary responsibilities include: • Managing all programs including preparation and post-program work; • Serving as the primary contact for project partners; • Overseeing the technical management of programs in conjunction with the Program Coordinator ; • Identifying the needs for technical assistance in the field and developing proper methodologies, tools and approaches to address those needs; • Identifying consultants, trainers and experts and overseeing their deployment in the field program; • Attending coordination meetings with partners; • Preparing and overseeing reports and other documents for publication in conjunction with the Program Coordinator; • Participating in the design of training modules and intervention processes for government and non-governmental organizations, as well as various community and grassroots groups; • Supporting the development and launch of a new online Muslim Peacebuilder Portal; • Identifying new program opportunities and cultivating relationships with the donor community, partners and contractors; • Coordinating and leading grant proposal writing; and, • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: • Masters degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution, or similar field; • Experience managing international projects and building international teams; • Familiarity with USAID grant mechanisms and requirements (preferred); • 5-6 years’ experience in designing and implementing peacebuilding programs; • Strong strategic decision-making aptitude; • International training experience; • Proposal writing and project reporting experience; • Attention to detail and the ability to meet rapidly changing deadlines; • Ability to work independently and as a team player; • Excellent presentation and writing skills; • Professional attitude and demeanor; • Additional language skills: Arabic and/or French; • Ability and willingness to travel internationally; and • A commitment to the vision and mission of Salam Institute.
