This position is UK based

Job Purpose
Support the financial and business performance analysis for Europe and Africa and MEAP as a key member of the line and finance team.
Working across overseas regions this individual will influence the business to achieve its financial and related productivity targets and drive continuous improvement in the tools utilised to analyse business performance, in order to support the decision-making process.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide a key point of contact for Finance to Area General Manager Europe and Africa and MEAP
  • Provide support to strategic input across the business as a key member of the business team
  • Influence financial issues within Europe & Africa and MEAP
  • Ensure all major business decisions are taken with sufficient understanding of their financial consequences
  • Provide input and challenge into decision making from both a business and financial perspective
  • Lead the provision of comprehensive financial accounting, management accounting and reporting to the business
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements via automation and standardisation and support or manage the implementation of any changes
  • Ensure effective ongoing monitoring of capital expenditure through developing effective working relationships with the Business Managers and Commercial teams
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve business reporting and decision-making
  • Provide a key point of contact for IAG and Iberia in matters related to the merger

  • Finance Business Partner Europe & Africa and MEAP, Business Managers, Finance Business Partner Commercial
  • Procurement and other Finance departments

  • Strong influencing capability in driving key decisions through to successful conclusions
  • Ability to exercise independent professional judgement within an overall business context
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to distil complex technical information into clear simple messages to all levels within the organisation
  • Effective team player with the ability to contribute to high performing teams

Essential Qualifications

  • Accounting qualification or equivalent (qualified or part qualified)

Experience

  • Provision of finance support within BA
  • Influencing decision making to ensure financial consequences are taken into account
  • Budgetary control and business/financial planning
  • Design and implementation of robust, practical and sustainable internal controls
  • Proven capability to prioritise work, work under pressure and operate to tight deadlines
  • Capital and non-capital project evaluation and control

Expertise

  • Ability to influence and follow through on profit improvement programmes
  • Provision of leadership with regard to achievement of financial targets and internal control
  • Ability to practically apply accounting regulations
  • Detailed understanding of BA Financial Systems
