This is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Job Purpose
To provide a clear focus for the continuous improvement of aircraft technical performance (punctuality, operational accountability and costs) as related to aircraft technical issues, engineering process and procedures, and the maintenance philosophy adopted.
To ensure a level of technical support to production staff such that technical issues can be resolved promptly, cost effectively and to a high standard within planned milestones. To ensure that incidents that relate to tasks carried out at BAMG are investigated and resolved to prevent reoccurrence.
Job Dimensions/Measures
The Technical Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving technical and safety standards.
The Technical Engineer provides technical support to achieve delivery to STS whilst maintaining and enhancing BAMG’s professional image.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Ref EASA EC No. 2042/2003 Annex 2 145.A.45 part 5 (c)(d)(e) and (g)
  • Evaluates, actions, engineers and resources tasks
  • Develops repairs, raise / approve a Pt 145
  • Technical Instruction for Production
  • Provides on-site specialist technical support as required, with due regard to all safety and commercial considerations
  • Plays a part in the team effort for achieving STS and resolving Technical queries in a timely manner
  • Liaises with Manufacturers, OEM’s and BA Pt 21 to develop solutions to Technical problems
  • Develops relevant performance measures and monitors all aspects of Major Maintenance technical activities, concentrating on corrective actions required to maintain high aircraft technical/safety performance from pre-input activities through to post-input serviceability
  • Analyses and supports BAMG and LHR Core areas investigation of GFOR and Quality issues as required
  • To complete CPCP and Structural finding verification (if qualified)
  • To answer within targets Engineering Query Forms (EQF’s)
  • Assist LHR Core areas with raising of DIR type Manual Change (MC) and Alternate Part Approval (APA) where supported by approved data
  • Provides feedback and support to LHR Core and BA operational areas on all aspects of technical reliability, serviceability and repair design resulting from the major maintenance checks

Essential Qualifications

  • Aeronautical 2.1 degree desirable or equivalent
  • Engineering apprenticeship and HND/equivalent qualification
  • Holder of CAA licence or company approval

Experience

  • Sound knowledge of maintenance programmes and schedules
  • Sound knowledge of current regulatory requirements
  • A knowledge of technical disciplines other than those of own persuasion
  • Knowledge of aviation design and maintenance practices
  • Detailed understanding of safety/quality matters
  • PC literate with knowledge of BA Engineering SAP system

Expertise

  • In depth Airbus and B737 fleet knowledge gained through considerable experience and involvement with the product
  • Experience of structural and/ or composite repairs an advantage
  • To be able to demonstrate the general & specific technical knowledge defined in BAMG procedure 3.14.2-Q
