Field of activity

The African Union Commission (AUC) is charged with Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development. An integrated infrastructure development is essential for economic development, peace building and for greater regional integration. However, Africa’s infrastructure networks remain highly fragmentary and bottlenecks continue to exist, especially with regard to delivery of infrastructure services. The need for strong coordination among the various institutions dealing with infrastructure was underscored by the Heads of State. Based on this fact, a design for an Institutional Architecture for Infrastructure Development in Africa (IAIDA) was proposed with in order to support the implementation of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), and to serve as a backbone for the implementation of any AU Infrastructure Programme. IAIDA is expected to create an integrated and enabling management environment, capable of enhancing the capacity of the African Union Commission and its institutions. IAIDA should therefore streamline all national, regional and continental efforts, and serve as a unique platform where all business processes for infrastructure development will be undertaken and shared. Each governing body will be assigned a role and clear responsibility to avoid duplication of tasks and events in order to win tangible achievements in the development of the infrastructure in Africa.

Your tasks

As Senior Data Analyst you will be responsible for the overall management of information, data, systems and tools which enables the Department of Infrastructure and Energy to produce top quality reports, documents, events, scorecards, maps and communication memos, both for internal and external users at short notice. In detail you will be in charge of the following:
  • Set up a system allowing an accurate flow of information regarding all infrastructure projects
  • Providing an information system and a portal of web sites on infrastructure
  • Analyze information and prepare consolidated reports in order to enable the stakeholders to make decisions on infrastructure
  • Work closely with the Data Management Expert for infrastructure and other partners in order to generate valuable information and access levels to efficiently administer this portal
  • Build a database for technical and financial patterns on donors
  • Support the Department of Infrastructure and Energy on all tasks related to the improvement of the management of information and production of documents, presentations as well as the use of appropriate office software packages

Your profile

You have an advanced university degree in Computer Science or equivalent, and extensive professional experience in the management of projects involving data management. You have in-depth knowledge in the field of data modelling, data analysis, report writing, total quality management, and training of colleagues. You are very well experienced in importing, transforming, validating and structuring data for decision making. Your organizational, analytical and problem solving skills are outstanding. You are excellent in writing and reporting. You are familiar working with international and regional organizations. Your excellent interpersonal skills come along with the ability to work in a multi-cultural African environment. Your serenity, good sense of humour helps you to remain motivated in tense times.You are proficient in one of the African Union working languages English or French. Familiarity with Arabic or Portuguese would be an asset.
