Nuru International
Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to the following:
• Provide support to the Scout team in leadership and management challenges that arise.
• Shadow Team Leader and meet regularly to learn the operational and logistical fundamentals of launching a new country project.
• Work to influence our staffing capabilities by helping to determine our training capacity.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the Operations Team.
• Prepare and revise leadership curriculum and training plans to fit in local context. This includes adapting un-tested training activities and processes to best achieve our goals for co-creation, based off of data, colloquial wisdom, and ongoing observation of trainings.
• Translate Nuru’s development philosophy and methodology to the operations on the ground. Collaborate and consult with rest of international team to ensure that trainings and program start-up activities are consistent with this philosophy.
• Monitor progress and evaluate impact of Leadership Program, track progress toward meeting seasonal goals and exit criteria
• Make strategic and tactical recommendations for improvements and changes to training content, methodology, and framework
• Recruit and train staff
• Co-develop leadership training materials to meet immediate and future training needs in the project.
• Collaborate effectively with Leadership Program counterpart on US rotation
Required Skills and Attributes:
• Master degree in Business or International Development preferred
• Minimum 4 years of leadership experience
• At least 2 – 3 years of experience in training and/or teaching with experience in writing curriculum
• Prior experience living and/or working in a developing country; experience in working with the poor
• Strong leadership and team building experience. Understanding of the servant-leadership concept
• Ability to do crisis management and rapid, innovative problem solving in uncertain environments
• Prior success working closely, leading and building relationships with diverse groups of people, including volunteers
• Strong work ethic
• Strong quantitative and project management skills
• Strong commitment to organization’s mission, vision and theory of change
