Position Summary
This position is to provide geologic support and interpretation for current unconventional resources assets in the Haynesville and Marcellus shales as part of a multi-disciplinary.The role will, where appropriate provide expert advice on the assets work programmes and projects. This role will provide a unique opportunity for an early career geologist to learn about unconventional resources.
Key Accountabilities
Responsible for ensuring work is up to BG standards and that all subsurface procedures involving subsurface assurance and Group excellence is followed. This will include mentoring and developing graduates and junior geologists.

Lead cross discipline integration of unconventional opportunities. This will require integrating reservoir engineering, operations, and land into any opportunity or advanced analysis of a play or prospect.

Provide support to Lower 48 asset on mapping issues. This includes assisting and oversight of the reserves mapping process every quarter and annual analysis of PRI for lower 48.

Collaborate with JV on technical assurance and challenges. Acts as focal point for all project phases of planning, delivery and evaluation od geologic workflows as assigned, including collaborating with technology groups and external consortias.

Ensures all geologic uncertainties and risks are incorporated into forward exploration and development plans, and are included in all estimates of reserves.

Ensures all own evaluations are documented and related geological data (both petrochemical and physical) is handled in accordance with BG’s Data Management Standards.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed: 
Experience in an exploration program, including navigating projects through BG gateways including subsurface assurance and readiness reviews.

Experience in unconventionals, including understanding the data types collected for unconventional analysis, interpretation, and integration into well performance.

Must have experience of working in different geological settings – clastics, carbonates, passive margins, thrust belts etc.

Experience using software Petra, ArcGis, Kingdom Suite (SMT), and Petrel is preferred

Operational experience including well site operations, understanding of drilling operations, and a basic understanding of completion practices in unconventional reservoirs

Experience in basin modelling, petroleum systems evaluation and geochemistry prefered

Experience interpreting 2D &3D seismic a plus

Experience of building effective networks with contractors, academia and external R&D bodies.
 
Specialist Knowledge/Languages: 
Candidate must be proficient at well log correlation, minor petrophysics, and an understanding of geochemistry concepts.

Excellent presentation skills and clear and convincing report writing ability.

Must be comforatable working in a cross discipline team with geologist, geophysicist, reservoir engineers, and operations.

Must be comfortable mentoring graduates and junior geologist

Candidate must be willing to attend conferences related to unconventionals and interact with academia and other industry workers.

Culture awareness within the business world, Potential partners could be from anywhere around the globe.

Candidate must be comfortable leading and making decsions within a technical business unit.
