Manager, Consumer Communications

Facebook seeks a seasoned Consumer Communications Manager to support public relations campaigns and partnerships in broadcast and print media. The successful candidate has strong consumer media contacts—both in print and broadcast as well as trade, tech and business press outlets. This person will work closely with Facebook’s internal communications organization, our strategic partnership team, and our content team to amplify proactive press campaigns on how public figures and other groups are using both Facebook and Instagram. This person will also work on other consumer campaigns that involve data, user stories and product launches. This role requires excellent writing skills and the ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously. Strong organizational and management skills are both key to success in this role. This is a full-time position based in Menlo Park or New York City.

Responsibilities

  • Interface and consult with cross-functional teams across the company particularly the tech communications team, the consumer PR team and the strategic partnership team. Drive positive press coverage in consumer print, broadcast, regional media , tech, business and trade press around Facebook’s mission of helping to connect, communicate and share in an unprecedented way. Amplify how public figures are using Facebook and Instagram in entertainment outlets and trade press. Help drive data projects and partnerships Protect and enhance awareness of Facebook and its products in mainstream consumer media outlets Conceptualize and execute creative consumer PR and marketing campaigns with media and other partners Help manage external PR agencies and budgets Organize press briefings, media sessions and events

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelors degree 15+ years relevant professional experience, both agency and in-house preferred Ability to work well under pressure, with tight deadlines
  • Strong project management and decision-making skills
  • Experience in managing teams and working with PR agencies and contractors Ability to think and communicate strategically with a variety of people
  • Deep understanding and passion for Facebook is a must Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and ability to travel as needed Must know AP style guidelines and be a master of grammar
