Chief Executive Officer/General Director, WWF Italy ONG Onlus

Location:

WWF office in Rome, Italy.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the vision, strategic planning, and future institutional development of WWF Italy;
  • Maintain and develop WWF Italy as the leading conservation INGO in Italy and enables WWF Italy to play a leading role in the WWF Network;
  • Ensure WWF Italy is effectively and efficiently managed in all key areas – conservation, operations, finance, HR, organization, communication, marketing and fundraising – ensuring WWF Italy to be most effective in achieving its objectives, according to the main standards of the international network, also by implementing new management culture and tools as well as new management and control systems, according to the best practices available;
  • Provide effective leadership and line management for all members of the senior management team;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners across the WWF network and with external partners inside and outside Italy.
  • Provide thought leadership on all key issues at the highest organisational level and manages key partnerships in and outside Italy to ensure optimal communication and mutually beneficial relationships.

What you need:

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
  • At least 10 years professional experience in a leadership role with demonstrated success in leading national or multi-national multi-site organizations;
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the not-for-profit sector, preferably of environmental non-government organizations;
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Additional training and/or degree in the field of Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management is a strong asset;
  • Significant public profile particularly regarding conservation, environment and business issues;
  • Experience working with and influencing government officials/departments and other key stakeholders in Italy;
  • A proven leader with the capability of creating and maintaining followers inside the organization and towards all the main stakeholders;
  • High level negotiation, collaborating and influencing skills and the capacity to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels in the business, not-for-profit, scientific and political communities;
  • Proven capability and competence in managing complex and multi-cultural contexts with a particular attitude in team building, decision making and problem solving;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to represent an organization at a range of local and international fora, in the media and with the general public;
  • Track record of building organizational talent by nurturing performance culture and encouraging empowerment and delegation;
  • •Decisive, courageous and resilient;
  • Passion for conservation and WWF’s mandate;
