Education Specialist , Asian Development Bank

Job Purpose
Support the formulation of policy, strategies, and programs to improve and scale up ADB support to education and skills development. Dialogue with governments and other stakeholders on improving the quality, labor market-relevance, and sustainable financing of education and skills development. Develop partnerships with the private sector to strengthen the role of education and skills development in improving human resources for technological development and economic competitiveness. Advise on the programming, design, and implementation of ADB-financed projects in this field. Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities on education, employability, and labor market issues. Nurture knowledge partnerships with global and regional organizations. Serve as ADB focal point for engagement with labor organizations.  Work with broad policies and objectives, working directly with clients, with supervision for critical tasks.
Reporting Relationships
  • Supervisor: Director, RSGS and works under the supervision of the Practice Leader (Education Sector)
  • The following staff positions may be supervised by the incumbent:
    • Administrative Staff
    • National Staff
Relevant Experience
  • Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in the education sector, and sound conceptual and technical competency in education and skills development.
  • Experience in operational partnerships for education development and delivery  with a range of partners, including private sector and CSR programs, would be an asset 
  • Solid understanding of challenges and opportunities in sustainable development and financing of education and skills development
  • Working experience in several developing countries, preferably in the Asia and Pacific region, in the context of international development cooperation;
  • Experience in working in projects or undertaking other assignments financed by a multilateral development bank in the particular field would be an asset.
