Fundraising Officer

The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) is a democracy assistance organisation established by political parties in The Netherlands for political parties in young democracies. Founded in 2000 by seven parties across the political spectrum (CDA, PvdA, VVD, GroenLinks, Democrats 66, ChristenUnie and SGP), NIMD currently works with more than 150 political parties in over 20 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe.
NIMD supports dialogues of political parties to improve the democratic systems in their country. NIMD also supports the institutional development of political parties, helping them develop party programmes and assisting them in their efforts to enhance relations with civil society organizations and the media. In line with international trends in political party assistance, NIMD has developed a strategy to work in a more results oriented way and to strengthen the evidence base of its programmes.
NIMD is gradually diversifying its funding base in order to ensure sustainability of its programme portfolio. To assist the NIMD management in reaching this goal, NIMD headquarters in The Hague is currently looking for a:
Fundraising Officer (m/f)
32 to 38 hours/week
The Fundraising Officer is responsible for maximizing the quantity and increasing the quality of NIMD’s funding proposals to a variety of bilateral, multilateral and private funders. S/he will be advising both management and staff on funding opportunities, alliances and strategies, streamlining NIMD’s systems, processes, policies & practices to enable the organization to attract more funding. S/he will be responsible for timely submission of proposals to donors, in line with their specific rules and regulations.
Tasks
  • Gathering knowledge and information on (potential) donors;
  • Tracking and tracing fundraising opportunities;
  • Advising and supporting NIMD’s management on its fundraising efforts;
  • Assisting in establishing alliances for joint fundraising opportunities;
  • Preparing and managing proposal writing trajectories and scrutinizing proposals to ensure donor rules and regulations are applied;
  • Supporting NIMD Programme Managers and Financial Programme Officers in developing high-quality concept notes and proposals to potential donors;
  • Writing of policy documents on fundraising and streamlining NIMD’s fundraising efforts and practices;
  • A relevant network would be considered an asset;
  • Being a source of information on fundraising for NIMD’s staff.
Profile
  • A relevant academic background;
  • Excellent proficiency in English and Dutch, Knowledge of Spanish and/or French is an asset;
  • A minimum of two years of relevant working experience in a similar position;
  • Pro-active and hands-on attitude;
  • Team player, but also able to working independently;
  • Affinity with the political approach of NIMD.

  • Ability to quickly read, interpret and understand donor rules and regulations;
  • Good writing skills.
The Fundraising Officer will work under direct supervision of the Director of Programmes. NIMD offers competitive secondary employment conditions. The salary for this position is between € 31.065,- and €  49.921,-. Full-time (38 hrs.) position, 32 hrs is possible.
