Fisheries Post Doctoral Fellow/Scientist

Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead innovative research projects in small-scale fisheries management in collaboration with national partners
- Provide technical input to components of multi-disciplinary projects that may include fisheries management, climate change adaptation, and integrated coastal zone management
- Develop and lead cross-disciplinary and participatory analyses of institutional and policy challenges relating to food security, ecology, and livelihoods
- Publish results of research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, policy briefs, and popular media and present research at international conferences
- Contribute to setting WorldFish research priorities in the Pacific region and to the WorldFish global research agenda
- Conceptualize and develop proposals for future grant-funded research
Candidates are sought with
- PhD in tropical fisheries (either natural or social sciences) or related discipline
- Demonstrated research innovation, publications in internationally refereed journals and the application of research to management issues
- Experience in assembling, organizing and analyzing information from a variety of sources and disciplines and synthesizing these to identify emergent issues
- Strong quantitative skills in statistical analysis, and relevant computer programs
- Ability to work effectively in remote communities and in diverse cultural contexts
- Commitment to community development
- English proficiency and excellent project management skills
- Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia, Tetum or a Melanesian language is desirable

- The successful candidate may be appointed as a post-doctoral fellow (two year appointment) or as a scientist (three year appointment) with responsibilities and expectations scaled accordingly
