Program Coordinator & Student Affairs Officer

The Norman E. Borlaug Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (Borlaug LEAP) is seeking a full-time Student Affairs Officer to provide program coordination, training/event planning, and grant administration.  This position works with students, faculty, and researchers to facilitate fellowships and mentoring relationships for enhanced leadership training.  Experience working with developing country students is essential and familiarity with issues of global food security and human and institutional capacity development preferred.  This job is located in Davis, California.

Background
The Norman E. Borlaug Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (Borlaug LEAP) awards fellowships to outstanding graduate students who show strong promise as leaders in the field of agriculture and related disciplines.  The program honors Dr. Norman Borlaug whose distinguished career epitomized the qualities of leadership, scholarship, scientific achievement, international cooperation, mentoring, and passion.  The program is managed by the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences International Programs Office, University of California, Davis.

Job Responsibilities:
Serve as program representative and primary point of contact for Borlaug LEAP
Coordinate and manage multi-institutional fellowship awards 
Develop recruitment strategies for potential applicants
Review and screen applications, provide analysis for Selection Committee
Collect, maintain, and validate Monitoring and Evaluation data for program
Develop and manage Alumni program
Implement information dissemination plan and coordinate communications of program participants
Plan and arrange meetings, short-term trainings, and seminars both in the US and abroad
Administer day-to-day operations of program

Qualifications:
Experience working with developing country students, preferably African students
Familiarity with and understanding of global food security issues and human/institutional capacity development
Experience with survey tools and Monitoring and Evaluation concepts and mechanisms
Program management experience including providing critical programmatic and analytical support and fiscal management
Training and/or event planning experience helpful
