PhD in Applications of Non-destructive Testing Methods in Civil and Structural Engineering Infrastructure – Bridges and Tunnels

A three year PhD studentship is available to undertake research on the applications of non-destructive testing methods in Civil Engineering infrastructure (bridges, tunnels and highways).
This project is suitable for a candidate with a Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering and/or geophysics (with distinction). The successful candidate will also have experience or interests in one or more of the following: non-destructive methods (ground penetrating radar), 3D laser scanner, vibration detecting sensors, finite element analysis and numerical modelling.
The successful candidate will receive a £13,800 per annum bursary plus a contribution of up to £4,000 per annum towards the tuition fees (equivalent to the Home and EU tuition fees) during the term of the studentship, subject to performance.
