Job Description

WYG have been shortlisted as part of a consortium to tender for the Uzbekistan Inclusive Education project. The project is funded by the European Commission and will build on work completed over the last 15 years on the integration of children with special needs into mainstream education institutions.

The project's overall objective is to contribute to social inclusion in Uzbekistan, with the purpose of improving the quality of education for children age 2-10 with special needs and promoting their integration in the mainstream kindergartens and primary schools. The 3 main components of the project are:
  • Policy Framework to develop long term strategy including legal and financial governmental frameworks
  • Capacity Development of teachers and non-teacher school staff
  • Public awareness to promote social inclusion

Requirements

WYG is seeking a Special Education Expert who will be responsible for the provision of technical expertise for project's second component, Capacity Development. The component involves the development of pre-service and in-service teacher training and non-teacher training staff modules on inclusive education.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:  

Qualifications & Skills
  • University degree or equivalent academic degree in education, psychology or equivalent
  • Fluency in written and oral English
  • Working command of Russian and/or Uzbek
  • Computer literacy
General Professional Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' in providing special education for children with disabilities in primary school
  • Experience of the special education sector specifically in context of inclusive education of children with disabilities
Specific Professional Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in inclusive education of children with disabilities
  • Experience of curricula adaptation for inclusive education
  • Experience in preparation and implementation of training for preschool and school special education teachers in special and inclusive education theory and practice, including teaching methodology
  • Experience with CIS education systems would be an asset.
