Conservation Area Manager

From its origins as a small group of committed wildlife enthusiasts, WWF has grown into one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations – supported by 5 million people and active in over 100 countries on five continents.

The Eastern Plains Landscape (EPL) of Cambodia is recognised as a site of global biodiversity importance and is a top priority landscape within the Lower Mekong Dry Forests Ecoregion. Within this context, WWF-Cambodia is looking for a qualified Conservation Area Managerwho will act as a project focal point to address land use delineation, law enforcement, and conservation centred eco-tourism related technical matters of the EPL conservation areas (Protected Areas, Protected Forest). He/she is the key person to develop strategy and planning as well as produce technical reports/positioning papers for related activities and is accountable for designing technical programme initiatives under the theme of protected areas management as appropriate, and for the quality control of related project/s efforts. The position is to be based in Mondulkiri Province, Cambodia.

What you need:

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

  • Master’s degree in conservation, natural resource management, bioregional planning, environmental, or in relevant fields
  • At least 5 years as project manager in the sector of the conservation and or Natural Resource Management
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in advising and or training in conservation and biodiversity protection law enforcement, or related field, preferably 2 years of which should have been in Cambodia;
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in advising on and or developing ecotourism initiatives.
  • Knowledge of conservation, community engagement ecotourism and law enforcement issues in the Greater Mekong Region, especially in Cambodia
  • Coaching and capacity building/development
  • Report writing
  • Analysis and research
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local language is an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office
