Mesh Products Value Stream Manager
Sandvik Hyperion has been created with Sandvik Venture to be the home of a world-class hard and super-hard materials company. Sandvik Hyperion is seeking a Mesh Products Value Stream Manager located at their Worthington, Ohio location.
The Role
The Value Stream Manager is responsible for delivery accuracy, quality standards, operational profitability, and a healthy working environment according to Sandvik expectations. The role is responsible for local production and reports directly to the Worthington Plant Manager. The Value Stream Manager will take delegated responsibility from the Worthington Plant Manager to manufacture and deliver Mesh abrasive products according to established business plans. Responsibility for this value stream exceeds 75 employees. In addition, the role will serve as the Operations point of contact for the Commercial, Technology, Financial, and Quality teams for all product line related issues.
Key Performance Areas
  • Ensure a safe manufacturing environment exceeding Sandvik EHS directives
  • Maintain exceptional standards of product and process quality
  • Provide superior customer delivery performance
  • Develop and implement budgets for Value Stream per Sandvik Hyperion defined targets
  • Optimize profitability through value stream staffing, layout, equipment or new production techniques
  • Drive change within existing organizational structure to improve group efficiency
  • Utilize lean manufacturing concepts as a way to promote improvements and change within the workshop
  • Lead, develop, and support enhanced performance of direct reports
  • Assure that corporate and local HR processes are followed for all employees within the Value Stream
  • Promote Sandvik Core Values and diversity & inclusion
Your Profile
  • Strong results orientation combined with ability to make sound, rational decisions
  • Demonstrated track record of success in managing a safe and environmentally sound workplace
  • 5+ years of experience in leading a team or as a supervisor in a plant production. Experience as an Operations Manager a plus.
  • Education on university level preferably within engineering, or equivalent
  • Relevant leadership training and ability to travel as necessary
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering
  • Strong understanding of Six Sigma, 5S, lean manufacturing principals
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven, with a sense of urgency when needed
  • Able to shift priorities and work under stress is essential to success
