Commodity Officer, Mauritania

The Commodity Officer will manage and supervise the implementation of food programming component of the project in coordination with the Project Manager and the Base Manager and actively participate in program management and provide technical support food programming (blanket, CRENAM and cash-based) related issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Food aid management standards installed and maintained in the food program as per World Vision and WFP standards:
- Install the WV food aid system in the sites in consultation with Project Manager and Base Manager.
- Install the warehouse management system according to WV and WFP standards.
- File claims for every loss of food and follow up according to the schedule set up in the WV manual.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and Base Manager to ensure that materials and equipment required in the projects are provided. Food distributions supervised and managed:*
- Provide support to all the field officers on commodity management.
- Review the distribution plans and post distribution reports to ensure compliance to the partnership standards.
- Manage food distribution teams and oversee random distributions during field visits.
Monthly reports prepared and submitted to FPMG and donors, including COMPASS:
- Ensure timely submission of field reports to facilitate commodities reports preparations.
- Provide the management with program information on a timely basis.
Coordination and networking;
- Attend and participate in partners coordination meetings, giving feedback to the team.
- Participate in assessments on food security and give feedback to the team.
- Maintain good relations with donors.
Financial resources budgeted and managed in relation to tonnage:
- In consultation with Project Manager and Base Manager, liaise with finance team and Administration to prepare food aid logistics budget based on tonnage.
- Manage implementation of projects as per the approved budgets and participate in the preparation of budgets for upcoming projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
Required:
- Bachelors degree in social sciences or related field.
- Food aid management, logistics, financial management.
- At least 3 years of experience in food aid management.
Preferred: - Exposure to food aid programs in Africa knowledge of lotus, Excel, MS Word and MS Access, PowerPoint.
