We are looking for an energetic Campaigns & Media Assistantto support our campaigning and advocacy work in the Netherlands. The Campaigns & Media Assistant will also liaise with ONE teams throughout London and Europe to plan and deliver campaigns and media activity in the Netherlands that engages our members and influences political leaders. This role is a key part of our expanding work and presence in the Netherlands. 

The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter, sympathetic to ONE’s agenda and able to handle a varied and fast-paced role. Interest in or experience of international development and Africa is desirable, and knowledge and experience of Dutch politics and media would be an advantage. This Campaigns & Media Assistant reports directly to the Advocacy and Campaigns Manager; and will be based in London, with frequent travel to the Netherlands.   • Work with colleagues to draw up and execute the 2016 campaign plan for the Netherlands and help manage the budget;
  • Run the 2016 ONE Youth Ambassador Programme in the Netherlands, including recruitment, campaigning and advocacy training, and designing and executing campaign stunts;
  • Recruit new ONE members through a range of creative means;
  • Coordinate content for web and social media channels for Dutch audiences;
  • Work with colleagues across ONE to ensure a co-ordinated approach to media, and contribute to the development of ONE's media positions globally;
  • Coordinate the translation of ONE materials for Dutch audiences;
  • With support from the European communications team, research and pitch stories to media;
  • Monitor relevant media and keep forward planning calendars up to date;
  • Any other duties as required.


  • Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, with a positive and proactive approach to tasks;
  • Excellent English- and Dutch-language oral and written communications skills;
  • Some experience of event and project coordination;
  • Experience of volunteering and volunteer management;
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities and work to tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage people at all levels and different backgrounds;
  • Experience of working in a campaigns and/or communications team;
  • Creativity and a talent for developing innovative campaigns or communications;
  • Understanding of print and digital communications channels and how to harness them;
  • A commitment to ONE’s aims and familiarity with international development issues;
  • Some knowledge of Dutch and politics and media.
