Young people are most affected by the most persistent problems in the world, yet are frequently overlooked as part of the solution. That’s where Restless Development comes in. Our mission is to place young people at the forefront of change and development.
Over the past five years of our current strategy, we’ve successfully carried the banner for youth-led development. We’ve demonstrated from the grassroots to the global policy spaces that young people can and must play a lead role in development. Our Global Policy and Practice team has been at the forefront of some of our biggest successes – from making sure young people’s voices shaped the new Global Goals, through to changing the practice of institutions, strengthening the global youth sector, and launching innovations like our ‘Big Idea’. Now, with our new strategy in sight from October 2016, exciting growth happening across the organisation, and the new set of Global Goals entering force in January, we’re entering an era of incredible opportunity for Policy and Practice at Restless Development.
The Policy and Advocacy Manager will play a key role in determining where we now take our global policy and advocacy work, and how we work with our country hubs around the regional and national policy-making, monitoring and accountability for the implementation of the SDGs. The Policy and Advocacy Manager will be the lead advisor on emerging policy and advocacy across the organisation, coordinate specific influencing opportunities and ensure a coherent approach for policy and advocacy through key networks and coalitions. The manager will also work closely with the Campaigns team to link global policy-making with our campaigns around key youth development priorities.
