Human Resources Intern

Social Impact (SI) is a Washington, DC-area international development management consulting firm. SI’s mission is to improve the effectiveness of international development programs in improving people’s lives. We provide a full range of management consulting, technical assistance, and training services to strengthen international development programs, organization, and policies. We provide services globally in the areas of monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, project and program design, organizational capacity building, and gender and social analysis. SI services cross-cut all development sectors including democracy and governance, health and education, the environment, and economic growth SI’s clients include US government agencies such as USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the US Department of State, bilateral donors, multilateral development banks, foundations, and non-profits.
Position Description:
SI is seeking a new Human Resources Intern to assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources and office management functions, duties and responsibilities.
A monthly stipend of $1000 provided with minimum 40 hours’ per week schedule. The opportunity to extend an internship may be offered pending strong merit and a solid completion of tasks.
Responsibilities:
· Setting up and maintaining employee personnel and benefit files;
· Submit enrollment paperwork to broker;
· Process payroll adjustments with Accounting;
· Schedule Outlook monthly events and team reminders;
· Performing candidate reference checks;
· Support the Internship program;
· Providing receptionist support to the Office Manager;
· Performing other human resource duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Candidate for a Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field
· Prior professional office work experience required; prior work in an HR capacity is a plus
· Proficiency with MS Office
· Ability to maintain confidential information
· Excellent customer service skills
· Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
· Highly motivated, dynamic, detail-oriented, people-person
· Must be strong at multi-tasking and willing to work in a fast paced environment
