Governmental Affairs Manager

CLEPA, The European Association of Automotive Suppliers, intends to recruit a  
Governmental Affairs Manager (M/F)
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the manager will be active across a wide range of policy fields relevant to the European automotive supply industry (e.g. emissions, safety, digitalisation etc.). S/he must therefore be able to prove such monitoring experience, combined with excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills. Representing the interests of the European automotive supplier industry, he/she will need to be able to explain highly technical issues in simple, persuasive language. A good understanding of and interest in the EU institutions and its politics is crucial. He/she must be an innovative communications professional with a hands-on attitude, with a passion to engage both external and internal audiences and provide cross-functional communications support to the organisation, including internal communication, media relations, publications, event management, website and social media.
Essential functions and responsibilities
  • Monitoring of sector-relevant policymaking processes, coordinating participation and input into stakeholder processes
  • Preparing press releases and statements, coordinating internal drafting processes for policy documents
  • Implementing and further developing CLEPA’s lobbying strategy and communication plan
  • Organising events (from 50 person policy debates to 250 person CLEPA Annual Reception)
  • Internal communication of CLEPA’s activities to CLEPA members via website and newsletter
Profile, experience and qualifications
  • University degree in Political Sciences, EU or Public Affairs or similar
  • Up to 3 years of experience in the areas, functions and responsibilities mentioned above.
  • Knowledge of the automotive sector is definitely an advantage.
  • Excellent English writing, editing and speaking skills plus one other EU language. Proficiency in German is requested.
  • Excellent strategic and analytical skills, proven experience with monitoring EU decision-making processes and a demonstrated knowledge of relevant issues, structures and contacts
  • Proven experience in drafting and editing communication materials for a variety of audiences
  • Strong social media and multi-media knowledge (CMS like WordPress, LinkedIn, twitter)
  • Results oriented, innovative, ability to multi-task and prioritise, resilient to pressure and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Possess a hands-on, positive, and enthusiastic team-player attitude while also able to work independently
