Internship/stage - Freight & Climate Change
Transport & Environment (T&E), the leading Brussels-based NGO promoting cleaner transport in Europe, is offering an internship for a period of six months, starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be working with T&E's Freight and Climate team, focusing on supporting our campaigns for a cleaner freight transport system in Europe.
Responsibilities will include:
- Studying the rail freight market and identifying gaps in publicly available information and opportunities to improve the sector
- Organising events – develop and organise T&E workshops with EU institutions and key stakeholders in the field
- Attending meetings in EU institutions (and elsewhere) on behalf of T&E
- Assisting in outreach to EU institutions (EP, Council and Commission)
- Assisting in drafting T&E documents on climate/transport policy and rail freight policy in particular
- Ad-hoc tasks
Skill and competences required:
- Decent knowledge of the railway sector and the EU’s rail initiatives/policy
- Confident and proactive person
- Well-organized and able to work on projects autonomously
- Fluency in English is essential. Any other language is an asset.
- Understanding of the functioning of EU policy making processes
- Demonstrable interest in environmental politics and environmental campaigning
- Good written and verbal communications skills including the ability to synthesize complicated policy issues into digestible products
This is a fixed six-month contract with remuneration once the successful candidate is eligible under the terms of the Belgian labour code's convention d'immersion professionnelle. The intern will receive an indemnity of €755 a month.
Deadline for application is the 30th of October, and interviews will commence shortly afterwards, with a view to the candidate starting as soon as possible (although depending on availability we can be flexible).
