Junior Scientific Officer
The European Recycling Industries Confederation (EuRIC) AISBL is a Brussels-based association, bringing together the national associations from 20 EU and EFTA countries and representing the interests of companies collecting, recycling and trading a variety of materials for recycling.
EuRIC has an opening for a position of Junior Scientific Officer.
Tasks
- Assess EU environmental and chemical legislation, standards and Best Available Techniques Reference document (BREFs) relevant for recycling activities (in particular the waste, CLP, IED and REACH legislation);
- Be able to process significant volumes of environmental data used for law making purposes;
- Provide scientific guidance to Members on regulatory impacts ensuing from EU legislation, standards and BREFs;
- Support the development of position papers and their advocacy;
- Interact with the EU institutions and stakeholders.
Profile
- University degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, biology or engineering;
- Highly motivated candidate with an entrepreneurial mindset;
- Ability to prioritise work, deal with a variety of topics with strict deadlines and progressively work independently;
- Strong inter-personal skills;
- Proven computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint);
- Fluent in English. Any additional European language is an asset;
- A prior experience working around EU institutions would be a plus.
