Junior Scientific Officer

The European Recycling Industries Confederation (EuRIC) AISBL is a Brussels-based association, bringing together the national associations from 20 EU and EFTA countries and representing the interests of companies collecting, recycling and trading a variety of materials for recycling. 
 
EuRIC has an opening for a position of Junior Scientific Officer.
 
Tasks
 
  • Assess EU environmental and chemical legislation, standards and Best Available Techniques Reference document (BREFs) relevant for recycling activities (in particular the waste, CLP, IED and REACH legislation);
  • Be able to process significant volumes of environmental data used for law making purposes;  
  • Provide scientific guidance to Members on regulatory impacts ensuing from EU legislation, standards and BREFs; 
  • Support the development of position papers and their advocacy;
  • Interact with the EU institutions and stakeholders.
 
Profile
 
  • University degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, biology or engineering;
  • Highly motivated candidate with an entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Ability to prioritise work, deal with a variety of topics with strict deadlines and progressively work independently; 
  • Strong inter-personal skills;
  • Proven computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Fluent in English. Any additional European language is an asset;
  • A prior experience working around EU institutions would be a plus.
