Responsibilities
We have a rare permanent opportunity for a Regulatory Economics Lead to join Anglian Water’s leading Policy and Regulatory Strategy team at a time of significant change in the water industry. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring Anglian Water remains influential at an industry level on these issues.
You will be part of a well regarded and experienced Regulation team who are at the forefront of developing and shaping the future of the water industry.
Reporting to the Head of Policy and Regulatory Strategy you will lead and influence shaping our position on specific areas of the regulatory framework; playing an active and leading role in promoting and developing approaches to major aspects of regulatory design, including the evolving role of outcomes and the increasing role of markets in the water sector. You will also lead the design of our approaches to economic and societal valuation mechanisms underpinning our future investment programmes.
With your ability to influence senior level stakeholders you will lead on influencing both internal and external stakeholders on regulatory economic and incentive policy issues relating to the development of future approaches to economic regulation and the forthcoming PR19 price control.
Requirements
Educated to degree level (preferably in a numerate discipline) and ideally supported by a post graduate qualification, you will have significant experience within an economic regulation or commercial environment. An understanding of competition issues and markets within a regulatory environment and knowledge of the utilities and associated regulatory frameworks and competition legal frameworks is desirable. The role will be based at our head office in Huntingdon, with travel required as you engage and work with a wider range of internal and external stakeholders.
You should possess a strong track record in policy development and regulation, and ideally previous experience of major industry reforms.
As well as a firm grasp of regulatory economics you should have solid analytical skills and a proven track record in leading, designing and delivering high quality and complex analysis tasks. More so, you will demonstrate the ability to combine strategic thinking with both exceptional written and verbal skills to successfully create compelling recommendations to a range of stakeholders at a senior level.
