Southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction (SSIRI) Project

Job Announcement

The Southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction (SSIRI) Project provides support to the Ministry of Education. The primary objective of SSIRI is to develop and broadcast educational radio programs to children, youth, and adults in order to improve access to and quality of education throughout southern Sudan and the Three Areas. In addition, SSIRI is supporting in-service and pre-service teacher education and has introduced other learning technologies and low-cost alternatives for delivering educational materials to schools and learning centers. SSIRI is administered by EDC and funded by USAID.

SSIRI is seeking qualified Sudanese Nationals for the following positions:

1. Outreach Advisors – 2 positions: Rumbek (responsible for Lakes and Unity States) and Malakal (responsible for Upper Nile State and Southern Kordofan)

Primary responsibilities:
• Work with education officials to ensure that SSIRI programs are fully integrated in the education system at all levels – especially in promoting, planning, implementation, training, and monitoring
• Work closely with education officials, as well as NGO education partners, to ensure program expansion, support, and quality
• Supervise and mentor the Outreach Coordinators
• Provide training to education officials, partners, and teachers
• Monitor SSIRI activities in schools and learning groups
• Collect data and report regularly

Required Qualifications:
• Degree/diploma in Education
• At least 3 years experience in senior management position preferably in education
• Fluent in written and spoken English and knowledge of Arabic
• Computer literate
• Should be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision

2. Communications Officer – Juba 1 position

Primary responsibilities:
• Develop an annual communication plan
• Design and produce print, visual, audio and video materials.
• Compile official project reports.
• Organize information and communications resources for SSIRI including a photo archive.
• Train SSIRI staff in digital photography, interviewing and note taking for articles and updates.

Required Qualifications
• Degree /diploma in communications, journalism, or equivalent
• At least 5 years experience in a relevant field.
• Experience and interest in formal and non formal education and /or community development
• Computer literate.
• Fluency in English and working knowledge of Arabic

Required Skills:
• Superior writing skills in English including the ability to synthesize and edit print content
• Design and production of reports and promotional materials using professional publishing software.
• Digital photography, video and audio production skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including interviewing and presentation skills.

3. Logistic Administrator -1 Position, Juba

Primary Responsibilities: -

• Receive, store and distribute the organization equipment and supplies.
• Develop and maintain an updated list of UN/WFP flights flight schedules and accommodation to facilitate the efficient travel and transport of project staff and equipment.
• Make bookings for staff travel on WFP and Commercial flights as per approved travel planners
• Assist in procurement of goods and services as necessary.
• Develop and maintain professional contacts with Logisticians/Operations staff from various governmental and nongovernmental agencies and organizations.
• Coordinate with staff the planning and implementation of training workshops as needed.
• Maintain the organization master inventory and update with new procurement.

Qualifications: -
• Degree or Diploma in relevant field preferably Administration or Logistics.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in this field.
• Comprehensive Computer skills.
• Strong English language skills; spoken Arabic is an advantage.
• Proven strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.
