Chief Executive Officer

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is dedicated to a society where all people enjoy the freedom to pursue their own sustainable development. We build the capacity of local institutions to address development issues. We give management advice, strengthen producer and stakeholder platforms, boost market intelligence and improve access to finance and develop local service providers. We serve some 2,500 local institutions that have the potential to boost production, income and employment and improve access to basic services. We have 100 offices in 33 countries around the world and work in the world's poorest and most remote communities. Our team is made up of 1,200 professional and dedicated staff members.

Functie-eisen

- Define the future direction and nature of the organisation;

- Create commitment for and bind the SNV global team towards that new vision;

- Lead the organisation through the transition and changes to achieve the new vision;

- Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and review of SNV's corporate strategy and - resulting from it- the corporate (multi) annual strategic plans;

- Profile SNV in the Netherlands and globally, and develop and maintain (international) relations with public, private and corporate players in the field of international development;

- Professionalise the organisation and lead SNV into becoming a market leader in Water & Sanitation, Renewable Energy and Agriculture & Forest Products;

- Hierarchical, functional steering and coaching of the teams working on strategy and strategic corporate communication;

- Ensure development and maintenance of the governance process and organisational structure and guard its integrity consistent with the mission, values and strategy;

- Ensure optimal accountability for (developing, reviewing and monitoring of) SNV's corporate business development strategy, finance and HR strategies;

- Chair the Managing Board; create alignment between its members as well as the different discipline in the organisation;

- Report to the Supervisory Board.


REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

- Proven track record / experience (for at least 15 years) in executive leadership of large organisation(s) with a global outreach. Experience in multiple organisations is preferable;

- Proven track record in designing and leading processes of transition and culture change in organisations;

- Extensive knowledge of international development and a strong network of relevant contacts;

- Extensive experience in strategy formulation resulting in innovative approaches and sustained results.

- A visionary and inspiring leader who can define the future direction and nature of SNV and lead it toward the new vision while safeguarding its financial sustainability;

- Team-focused, pro-active, entrepreneurial and results oriented manager with sound judgment skills;

- Strong leadership and influencing skills linked to cultural sensitivity;

- Strong verbal and written communication skills;

- Fluent in both Dutch and English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Spanish and French is an advantage;

- Committed to, and enthusiastic about, the mission and vision of SNV;

- Master's degree required.

Contract period: 1 year initially

Desired appointment date: As soon as possible

Additional information:Remuneration will be in line with the position and in adherence to Dutch regulations. A formal assessment is part of the recruitment process.
