FlU invites applications and nominations for the Dean of the College of Business Administration. The College is seeking a dean who is a demonstrated strategic leader with a commitment to foster research and scholarly activities, promote the global visibility of the College’s programs, continue the advancement of innovation and entrepreneurship, and grow the college’s financial base through resource development and partnerships. The Dean must work closely with leaders of the business community locally and abroad to develop the necessary relationships to ensure that the College graduates have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in a highly competitive global job market and to ensure that the College secures a continuous flow of funding to build a substantial endowment.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in higher education and/or other fields of professional distinction. Minimum qualifications include a PhD from an accredited institution of higher education in business, law, the social sciences or a master degree and extraordinary professional experience and demonstrated major institutional leadership. A PhD and evidence of scholarly and professional achievement are required for appointment as a tenured faculty member. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all constituencies, knowledge of business and its role in the global marketplace and society, and demonstrated success in developing external funding and fund raising from private and public sources are also minimum qualifications.

The College of Business Administration is comprised of the R. Kirk Landon Undergraduate School, The Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Graduate School of Business, the School of Accounting, and four departments – Finance and Real Estate, Marketing, Management and International Business, and Decision Sciences and Information Systems. As the largest of FIU’s professional schools and with more than 100 faculty members, the College enrolls about 6,000 undergraduate and more than 1,000 graduate students annually. The College of Business Administration and the School of Accounting are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

The College houses several specialized centers and offices that provide both degree-related and outreach teaching and research – the Center for International Business Education and Research – CIBER; the Center for Leadership, the Eugenio Pino and Family Global Entrepreneurship Center, the Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute and the Ryder Center for Supply Chain Management.

U.S. News & World Report's “America's Best Colleges” (2005-2011) ranked FIU’s undergraduate international business programs among the 15 best in the nation, three times in the top 10. U.S. News & World Report’s has consistently ranked the Chapman Graduate School among the top 25 in the international specialty. In 2011, we placed 24th. Earlier this year, Accounting Horizons ranked our PhD in accounting #2 in auditing research, #26 in archival research and #30 overall based on research productivity of graduates in the three years immediately following graduation.
