Based in Brussels we wish to appoint an EU Affairs Executive, reporting to the Regional Director, Europe

Overall role purpose

To assume responsibility for monitoring EU policy developments and assist in the drafting and communication of ICAEW views in defined policy areas.

To develop and deliver regular visibility initatives and contact building in the EU arena to maximise the impact of ICAEW reputation and influence.

Main responsibilities include

  • Assist the Regional Director and Head of EU Public Affairs in planning activity and development of future strategy to achieve reputation and influence in the EU arena
  • Devise and deliver stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate input on EU affairs for Europe Region’s webpage and develop new communication initiatives to showcase ICAEW’s engagement on EU affairs.
  • Monitor and provide intelligence on specific EU policy areas, including enterprise, tax, public sector and assist in developing ICAEW positioning and recommendations.

Key skills required

  • A good understanding of EU Institutions and the EU decision-making process and of stakeholder engagement in Brussels.
  • A familiarity with business-related EU policy making issues is essential.
  • The ability to proactively identify opportunities for contact building and devising and managing events are essential.
  • Good drafting skills are essential as the role will involve the preparation of written submissions and other forms of external communication.
  • The post holder must have the confidence and interpersonal skills to deal with representatives of the profession and of external stakeholders.
  • The ability to develop partnerships.
  • The post-holder will need to be practical and innovative and have the flexibility to react and implement practical solutions to issues, in particular with regard to organising events and meetings.
