Information Associate

Root Capital is a nonprofit social investment fund that is pioneering finance for grassroots businesses in rural areas of developing countries. It provides capital, financial education, and market connections to small and growing businesses that build sustainable livelihoods and transform rural communities in poor environmentally vulnerable places. Through innovative approaches to development finance, Root Capital aims to fill the "missing middle" of finance - serving organizations caught in the gap between microfinance and traditional banking. About the Job: Root Capital is seeking a proactive and motivated Information Associate to support the lending team in generating reports and responding to internal information requests. Working closely with the Regional Director for Latin America as well as with senior lending staff in the region, the Associate will be responsible for mastering different internal information systems and other sources of quantitative and qualitative information to extract data, conduct basic analyses, write initial drafts, and provide other inputs for reports. In addition, s/he will develop an intimate understanding of Root Capital's portfolio of clients in Latin America, partly through field visits to clients. Moreover, the Associate will serve as a first point of reference for information requests, primarily from other Root Capital departments. Tasks and Responsibilities: Generate internal reports for the lending team and conduct first level analysis of internal data related to the organization’s Latin American portfolio; Manage requests for information about the lending team and the Latin American portfolio from other departments within Root Capital; Manage the online lending reports library for Latin America; Assist in developing materials for conferences, events, and presentations; Other responsibilities, as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration or a similar field, plus one or two years of relevant professional experience; Technological savvy and ability to quickly become proficient in new technological systems and tools; Passion for Root Capital’s mission of socially and environmentally responsible lending in developing countries; Eagerness to serve as a liaison between the field and headquarters and contribute to the development of external messaging; Strong customer service attitude; Excellent written communication and experience generating reports; Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with an international, multicultural team; Ability to work independently; ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple requests appropriately; Fluency in Spanish; advanced English proficiency; Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, including to rural areas (currently estimated at a maximum of 10% of time).
