Internship in the Europe and Central Asia Department

The TI Secretariat in Berlin is seeking a highly motivated intern to support its work in the Europe and Central Asia Department.

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Description of Internship

Main function: Assisting the Europe and Central Asia programme staff

Starting Date: 26 September 2011 or later

Duration: Six months; full time Monday to Friday

Remuneration: 400 euro per month

Location: Berlin, Germany

As a member of a dedicated, international team the intern’s responsibilities will be diverse.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of reports and briefings on anti-corruption issues and/or countries in Europe and Central Asia
  • Communication with TI National Chapters and other external stakeholders
  • Contribution to programme reports
  • Responding to internal and external requests for information
  • Skilled administrative and financial tasks such as event logistics, carrying out reimbursements and updating internal information systems

Knowledge, experience and skills:

  • Excellent spoken and written English (working language at TI Secretariat)
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, experience organising events is an asset
  • Some prior office experience, good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Outlook and especially Excel)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Europe and Central Asia region
  • Studies in political/social science, European studies or international relations desired
  • Some knowledge of and considerable interest in the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption
  • Other European language skills would be an asset
