Secretary/Administrative Assistant

The Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU

The Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU in view of its upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union seeks to recruit a Secretary/Administrative Assistant for providing support to different units of the Representation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide general secretarial/ administrative support, document management and coverage of daily logistical needs
  • Draft and type letters/reports and handle the layouts of documents
  • Handle incoming and out-going correspondence
  • Answer telephone calls and give general information to callers
  • Maintain and update filing/registry (including electronic ones), mailing lists and database.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility of the position

Required Qualifications and skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of Greek and English and very good knowledge of French and/or Dutch.
  • University degree or 3 years work experience in similar fields.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet)
  • Very good communication and organizational skills, strong aptitude for team work and good time management.
  • Good understanding of EU institution.

Contract duration/Remuneration:

The employment contract is offered within the needs of the Cyprus Presidency and is expected to begin by March of 2012. The successful candidate, once hired, is expected to offer their services wherever deemed necessary within the aforementioned needs, namely in Brussels, Luxembourg or /and Strasbourg.

This is a local staff position and the monthly remuneration will be 1.944 euro (brut) for those who belong to the Social Security Scheme of Cyprus and 1.788 euro (brut) for those who belong to the Social Security Scheme of Belgium. The salary scale is based on the Belgian salary scale in force for corresponding positions of Public Service.
