WWF International, General Counsel

WWF International is now looking for a General Counsel (50%) who will provide high quality legal advice to WWF International on the full range of legal issues relevant to its work. These include issues related to intellectual property, brand and trademark protection, corporate partnerships, ICT technologies, litigation, contract negotiation, etc...

Location:

The position is based at WWF International in Gland, Switzerland.

Required Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with and through external advisers, handle all WWF legal issues (corporate partnerships, intellectual property, marketing and communications, HR and others) proactively and in a timely manner.
  • Work with the various departments at WWF International (and at times, other parts of the WWF Network), to ensure awareness and understanding of legal issues and risks.
  • Build a strong working relationship with WWF's existing legal advisers to ensure WWF can access expertise on the range of legal issues which might arise.
  • In particular, develop a close working relationship with WWF's primary legal external adviser to ensure the occupant has a comprehensive understanding of the history of and approach to WWF International's legal issues over WWF's history.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Appropriate tertiary legal qualifications to the level of Masters
  • 10-15 years working experience the private sector and/or NGO sector
  • Ability to deliver outcomes and solutions through external partners
  • Excellent command in English and French and a working knowledge of other languages
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and diplomatic skills
  • Strong experience in intellectual property, trade-mark, computer and information technology law
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead within a virtual, external team
  • Real interest in conservation
  • Proven ability to influence through mentoring, guidance and persuasion
