We are recruiting for a number of roles and are looking to employ people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience – some areas require technical economic and finance skills, others require people who can quickly get up to speed on a new area and find a way through complex issues.

Analysts - you bring an enquiring mind and readiness to lift your three or so years’ work experience to the next level. We value savvy relationship and critical thinking skills. Along with strong analytical ability you will bring:

  • relevant experience in providing policy advice using economic frameworks
  • excellent relationship skills and be comfortable engaging with a wide range of people
  • proven capacity to grasp new issues (often at speed) and the capacity to develop solutions to challenging issues
  • know-how around accessing, interpreting and communicating information to a variety of audiences
  • a relevant tertiary qualification (economics, finance, law, accounting or related fields would be an advantage and honours or post-graduate level is desirable).

Senior Policy Analysts – you bring demonstrated experience in policy, are collaborative in your approach, display sound knowledge of economic and fiscal frameworks, show evidence of great critical thinking skills, strong analytical skills and intellectual ability. Being able to build influential relationships and make an impact in a complex and demanding environment is essential. It will be an advantage, but not essential, to have experience in a public sector environment.

Senior Analyst roles work closely with teams across Treasury, and externally with Cabinet Ministers and key stakeholders within the public and private arena. You are expected to display people and intellectual leadership along with advanced relationship management and the ability and/or desire to mentor and develop others. You will also possess the following:

  • Extensive experience in developing and providing economic, financial or regulatory policy advice, including applying and adapting analytical frameworks and tools
  • A excellent post graduate level tertiary qualification as a minimum
  • In depth understanding of policy, including economic and analytical frameworks
  • Good understanding of government or public service environments
  • Savvy at conveying complex information to a diverse audience
  • The ability to develop practical public policy advice.
