Auditor/HQ Accountant Equal Access International

About the Position:
We seek a motivated professional accountant and auditor with experience in monitoring, auditing and training field finance staff. The ideal candidate has experience with international operations and familiarity with government contract requirements, USAID regulations and grant reporting. The Field Auditor will report to the Director of Finance and will collaborate closely with the field office finance teams. The Field Auditor will be based at the headquarters office in San Francisco and will be expected to travel to each field office at least annually for monitoring, auditing and training.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversight of all field office financial operations through detailed review of all financial reports sent to headquarters.
• Audits of field office financial transactions, conducted from headquarters or at the field office.
• Compliance testing to ensure that field office operations are within Equal Access policies and procedures as well as meeting all donor requirements.
• Communication with field office finance staff on a regular basis to resolve problems and share information.
• Training and staff development of field office staff.
• Development of an ongoing internal audit program.
• Reviews and revisions of Equal Access policies and procedures, with notification of changes and additional training, as necessary.
• Assistance to external auditors.
• Reviews of field office subcontracts, procurements, award agreements and other documents.
• Implementation of and training on finance systems for new field offices.
• Response to problems at field offices.
• Internal audits in San Francisco headquarters.
• General accounting duties as assigned at the headquarters office.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance.

Experience: At least 3 to 5 years of relevant professional and international experience required

Specific Knowledge Requirements:
• Experience with computer spreadsheets and word processing, and with accounting software packages -- QuickBooks experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Fluency in English required, with fluency in French highly desired.

Special Requirements: This job will require a criminal background check.
