At the British Council, we offer a wide range of internships across a number of different disciplines, we are currently offering the following internships.

Business Solutions Internship Ref: BCINT001
12 weeks, fixed term, Manchester*

Are you a naturally great communicator? Want to be part of a global team? This is a fantastic opportunity to work with experienced colleagues in London, Manchester, Poland, India and Taiwan. We need an intern to help us produce a multi-media case study catalogue of the British Council’s work across the world. Successful candidates will be organised and able to co-ordinate activity across multi-cultural teams and internal departments. Above all the intern will be an accomplished copywriter and be able to create and develop new ways of presenting information.

Arts Internship Ref: BCINT002
12 weeks, fixed term, London*

Love contemporary design and architecture? Want to be part of the London 2012 Festival? The Arts Internship sits in the Architecture, Design and Fashion department. You will support the teams on two exciting projects - the British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale; and the International Architecture + Design Showcase, which is part of the London 2012 Festival. This is a unique opportunity to work on challenging projects and learn from some of the best in the industry. To be successful you’ll need to demonstrate knowledge of the sector, strong organisational skills and a passion for contemporary design and architecture.

Communications Internship Ref: BCINT003

Want more than just managing your own online profile, networks and blogs? Fancy being part of the team responsible for the reputation of an internationally significant organisation instead? Working in our Press Team you will be proactively promoting our work. You will draft press releases, update press contacts, source quotes, write case studies and support general communications including events, internal communications, website and social media updates. This is invaluable experience for any budding career in journalism or marketing. Successful candidates will love to communicate across any any given medium, have an excellent standard of written English, attention to detail, a zeal for PR and journalism and an ability to work with tight deadlines.

Customer Management Internship Ref: BCINT004
12 weeks, fixed term, London*

Are you a people person? Are you hot on all things social media? Do you know how to deliver great service? We are looking for an intern to help us explore how social media can be used to enhance our customer experience. You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of how companies represent themselves online and have the ability to confidently analyse and interpret your research project findings. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain highly valuable practical social media experience to put on your CV.

External Relations Internship Ref: BCINT005
12 weeks, fixed term, London*

Want to help us connect and engage with UK ministers, politicians, key decision-makers and opinion formers? In this internship you may be working with the UK government and Parliament as well as the arts, business, language and education communities. You will be responsible for researching and creating engagement strategies to effectively communicate with each of these stakeholders and provide support for their events. Successful candidates will have an interest in politics, have experience conducting analytical research and have a talent for effective communication.

Finance Internship Ref: BCINT006
12 weeks, fixed term, London*

Are you passionate for numbers? Are you an analytical thinker? Do you want a great start to a career in Finance? Our financial accounting team need an intern to help with the preparation of our year end accounts and on-going month end reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity to practice the accounting knowledge gained from your course as well as contribute to the smooth running of a global business. You will also have the opportunity to develop a new financial tracking system to improve compliance across departments.

Global Business Services Resource Pool Ref: BCINT007
12 weeks, fixed term, Manchester*

The British Council deliver training across the world. You will be instrumental in administering this process, ensuring learners get the support they need, when and wherever they need it. You will support the GBS training team by monitoring applications, updating course information and reporting on uptake and success rates. Ideal candidates will be organised, helpful and happy to work with diverse departments with different support needs.

Global Business Services Software Licensing Ref: BCINT008
12 weeks, fixed term, London*

Has your knowledge of software packages been recently updated? Want to directly impact efficiency and growth? This role will be based in Global Business Service’s Global IT Security Team. You will ensure auditing software is rolled out to all PCs/Servers/laptops, procure software and input licence entitlements into the Phoenix Licence Dashboard. Ideally candidates will demonstrate an understanding of software suites including software licensing for Microsoft, Adobe, Core GTI2 build software and how to use Centennial and Phoenix Licence Dashboard. Experience of working to Federation Against Software Theft (FAST) Audits is also desirable.

Partnerships and Business Development Internship Ref: BCINT009

Want to help us work with people who will influence the shape, economics and culture of our future world? The British Council partners with influential individuals and organisations in order to share expertise, networks, resources and sponsorship. You will research potential new partners, lead on updating existing research on Trusts and Foundations, update account management information and record outcomes of meetings with Global Partners. Successful candidates will have an interest in international politics, current affairs and be able to write clearly and persuasively. You will also be well organised and possess excellent research and analytical skills.

Global Business Services Technology Service Ref: BCINT010
12 weeks, fixed term, London*

Want to work in a team that directly impacts global organisational growth and productivity? This role is based in the Global Business Services department which provides IT and Finance Services to rest of the organisation through internationally distributed teams and a shared service centre. You will support drafting and scheduling activities and resources, identifying dependencies with both internal and external interrelated projects, critical path analyses and risk assessments. Successful candidates will have experience in project planning and are able to deliver quality outputs on time and on budget.

Technology Digital Internship Ref: BCINT011
12 weeks, fixed term, London*

Want to help transform the British Council into a digital business? This is a great opportunity for you to make an enormous impact on how the organisation functions. You will be invaluable in helping the team to identify successes, challenges and areas for change and improvement. Successful candidates will be constantly looking for ways to make improvements and contribute to the success of the digital team. You will be a good communicator, be experienced in project management and have demonstrable marketing and customer service skills.
