Communications Specialist - Johns Hopkins University

The Communication Specialist will contribute to the technical strategy of and planning for K4Health (Knowledge for Health) Project Result 4 (PR4) – Knowledge exchange. Strategize and execute a plan to support and expand information for PR4 main products that include knowledge exchange forums and eLearning. Work closely with team to ensure that audience needs are met in online forums and eLearning. Support K4Health eLearning initiatives including the Global Health eLearning Center as well as country based eLearning programs. Will be responsible for designing courses in collaboration with subject matter experts, researching technical topics, synthesizing key messages and developing course content. Will also be responsible for day to day management of courses which includes the following tasks: Training of new authors and partners on the course development process and the use of a content management system, content development, data organization and analysis using multiple resources including electronic databases and published reports, coordination of course review and comment tracking and liaising with IT partner to troubleshoot issues. Other tasks may include creation of guides for users, assistance with the creation of training materials for country programs and assistance in developing presentations. This position requires professional writing and editorial skill. Also, writing samples requested with cover letter. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and in support of various teams.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field. Two years related experience. Knowledge of public health, especially international family planning and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, TB, and related health issues. Understanding of eLearning methodologies, instructional design, program design, implementation and evaluation, as applied to health care in low resource settings. Ability to travel internationally as needed. Working knowledge of communication technologies, such as virtual learning, online discussion forums, wikis, blogs, chat/instant messaging, text messaging, social networking technologies/tools, virtual meeting software. Knowledge of principles and approaches of knowledge management. Good writing, editorial, publication and production skills. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
