Plant Operations Unit Manager - Tanzania

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Optimization and management of the comminution and CIL circuits such that production is achieved as per the plan in a safe and cost effective manner whilst respecting environmental regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Tertiary qualification in Metallurgical Engineering with at least 8 years of Plant operations experiences or related discipline.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE:

This incumbent would be accountable for the following:

  • Optimizing the comminution and CIL circuits to maximize throughput and plant efficiency.
  • Designing and implementing circuit parameters guidelines and establishing working methods and practices to keep utilization within optimal tolerances at all times.
  • Developing operators who are capable of keeping the operating parameters within effective and acceptable ranges throughout shifts.
  • Managing the continuous flow of the processing plant such that production is achieved as per the plan in a safe and cost effective manner while respecting environmental regulations.
  • Establishing standards of good metallurgical practice.
  • Advising the Plant Manager IV on risks, risk mitigation, opportunities, equipment/infrastructure optimization recommendations, and capital improvements projects that may be required to ensure optimal plant availability, utilization, capacity and performance.
  • Implement programs to increase awareness and participation in safety as the first value in the plant, taking into account the special hazards associated with dangerous chemicals and other plant hazards.
  • Plan and implement infrastructure to support the plant operations (water, power, tailings disposal).
  • Develop a plan for implementing work processes for operating the process plant at optimal capacity to consistently achieve throughput and recovery at expected levels. Determine the required capability and skills for each role as well as the tools needed to complete the work effectively.
  • Establish plan and methods for FLMs to use in training, assessing and deploying shift teams, resulting in operators who are capable of keeping the operating parameters within effective and acceptable ranges throughout shifts.

REPORTING TO:

Process Plant Manager

REMUNERATION:

The successful candidate will be appointed on a 2 year expatriate contract, which may be renewed, regular leave breaks will apply. The successful candidate would be offered a US dollar based salary.
