Project Manager: Wind Project Development , Juwi Holdings

Project Manager: Wind Project Development

From your base in Cape Town, you will take charge of the development and management of wind energy projects in South Africa - from land acquisition to commissioning. The key focus will be on electrical engineering. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conducting initial assessments of potential sites, considering commercial, environmental, technical and political aspects
  • Acquiring suitable sites and negotiating land lease contracts
  • Managing the process to carry out environmental assessments and grid connection studies
  • Working with local authorities to obtain all necessary permits, approvals and licences for the development and construction of wind farms
  • Creating and regularly updating project status reports.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the fields of project management, electrical engineering or technical management
  • Knowledge of the field of renewable energies, preferably wind energy, will be a plus
  • Solid knowledge of the South African energy market
  • Familiarity with managing the specifics of the South African planning procedures and formalities, permitting requirements, grid connection as well as environmental issues
  • Assertiveness and a high degree of flexibility
  • The ability to think analytically
  • High team spirit
  • An intercultural understanding
  • A hands-on approach
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Fluency in English and, ideally, the ability to communicate in Afrikaans
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Project.
