Resident Engineer - Hazelmere Water Works
Background: Umgeni Water is currently implementing infrastructure to meet its operational responsibilities. One of these projects is the Hazelmere Water Works Upgrade due to start construction in about June 2012. A Resident Engineer is required for this work. Hazelmere Water Works is situated approximately 20min drive north of Umhlanga.
Purpose of the Job: Presenting engineer on site, you will be an “RE” - a Resident Engineer reporting to the Manager: Engineering Services.
Key Responsibilities Construction Monitoring (Level 4) as defined under item 3.3.2 of Board Notice 206 of 2011, Engineering Council of South Africa: Guideline Scope of Services and Tariff of Fees for persons registered in terms of the Engineering Profession Act, 2000, (Act No. 46 of 2000).
Minimum Qualification, Knowlege & Skills B SC Eng. / B-Tech degree (Civil) * Professional registration with ECSA *At least 10 years relevant site experience as an RE “Resident Engineer”.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: We are looking for assertive individuals with: * good communication skills * customer focus * ability to read and understand engineering drawings/specifications * ability to establish and maintain sound relationships with external Stakeholders * have good working knowledge of relevant legislation * thorough knowledge of acceptable quality, safety and environmental systems * thorough knowledge of engineering work procedures and construction materials * comprehensive knowledge of engineering standards * project management experience * ability to compile and manage payment certificates * knowledge of the bill of quantities programme CAST will be an advantage.
