Wind Energy Health & Safety Officer EWEA

reporting to the Head of Policy Analysis

This combined strength makes EWEA the world’s largest and most powerful wind energy network.
Scope
The Wind Energy Health & Safety Officer is responsible for developing and implementing an Health & Safety program for EWEA under supervision of the Head of Policy Analysis, in collaboration with the EWEA HS committee.
Duties
To reduce risks for personnel working on site in the wind industry in Europe, and to reduce environmental risks on sites across Europe, the EWEA HS officer will identify and promote best practices and harmonization of Health and Safety practices and regulation across Europe, including training standards, safety rules, documentation of work, reporting standards, etc.
The HSE officer will on behalf of EWEA and its members
  • Provide an overview of existing European HS collaborative projects, and maintain a web platform for exchange of best practice
  • Develop and maintain a Europe-wide clearing-house mechanism to report and aggregate data on health and safety incidents
  • Collate and issue bi-annual best practice industry recommendations for HS
  • Carry out review of national regulation with an aim to identify scope for approximation or harmonization.
  • Engage with and influence HS regulators, EU OSHA, European Commission
  • The HS Officer will function as secretariat for the EWEA HS Committee
Required key qualifications
  • Master degree, preferably in management, political science or business administration
  • Relevant experience from wind industry or other HS exposed industry
  • Prior HS training or qualification an asset, but not required
  • Preferable experience from the wind industry, the maritime industry, certification bodies, or from agencies regulating on site work carried out in these industries
  • Fluent written and verbal English is mandatory; other languages are an asset to deal with external technical experts, subcontractors and members
  • Safety oriented personality
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to understand technical environment and societal issues related to wind
  • Proven analytical skills and problem solving attitude
  • Experience in regulatory affairs
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as independently
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment
  • Knowledge about EU and other HS regulation is preferable
