Sameer Africa Limited, a leading manufacturer and provider of tyres solutions with offices in Nairobi and with operations within the COMESA Region has an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled & resourceful, candidate to fill the above position:-

Financial Accountant

Main purpose of the job

To provide accurate, meaningful and timely financial information, maintenance of the books of accounts and ensuring integrity on all financial transactions processing chain.

Among others, key accountabilities will include:-
  • Circulating monthly closing timetable and making follow up to ensure adherence to deadlines.
  • Authorizing journals into the accounting system to enable preparation of monthly accounts.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly consolidated statement of financial position and statement of cash flows.
  • Reviewing general ledger account reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness in their preparation.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial statements for management as well as other stakeholder's decision making.
  • Ensuring all relevant taxes for the Group are filed and paid for on or before due date.
  • Establishing, lodging and following up tax refund claims with tax authorities (Kenya and Offshore).
  • Analyzing, objecting and resolving tax assessments and inquiries from various Revenue Authorities and other statutory bodies.
  • Managing relationships with various revenue authorities (KRA, URA and TRA) on tax matters and ensure full compliance across the SAL network.
  • Assisting in reviewing Subsidiaries' financial reports for correctness and accuracy.
  • Balancing-off intercompany ledgers and preparing intercompany reconciliations including a review of all trial balances.
  • Preparing dormant subsidiaries financial statements for management decision making.
  • Developing, supervising and coaching assigned staff to enhance performance for increased productivity.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A Bachelors Degree in Accounting/ Finance or a related business field
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA(K), / ACCA or equivalent) and be a member of ICPAK
  • At least 4 years relevant working experience in a manufacturing environment preferably a comparable role
  • Knowledge of IFRS / IAS and Taxation rules and laws
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems – working knowledge of SAP Version 6.0 will be an added advantage
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, Attention to detail, problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • High standards of ethics and values
Machine Operators Technicians

Main purpose of the job

Assembling tyre carcasses according to specifications using a Tire Assembly Machine.

Among others, key accountabilities will include:-
  • Checking all materials for conformity with specifications before use
  • Setting the machine and guide lights after size change
  • Recording the hourly production
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • KCSE level grade C and above
  • Certificate or diploma in mechanical engineering
  • Ability to cut and make correct component splices, correct placement of components to average limits of exactness
Mechanical /Electrical Technicians

Main Purpose of the Role

Carrying out planned maintenance jobs including inspections based on maintenance calendars or emergency calls as need arises.

Among others, key accountabilities will include:-
  • Carrying out troubleshooting and repair of production/process machines and equipments in event of a breakdown
  • Implementing preventive maintenance plans as per schedules and to standards
  • Carrying out machines inspections as directed by plans/schedules and prepare reports
  • Servicing and recycling of old machine parts to reduce maintenance cost
  • Working with engineers to implement capital and Kaizen projects in the plant
  • Observing and enforcing set health and safety measures and regulations
  • Maintaining high standards of house keeping
  • Updating of maintenance data ( history records, check sheets, maintenance calendars )
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • KCSE level grade C and above
  • A diploma in mechanical /electrical engineering

Technical Engineer
Main purpose of the job

Developing new products and process specifications while improving existing products and process specifications to meet customer satisfaction

Among others, key accountabilities will include:-
  • Providing design support for developing and evaluating prototype Products as per specifications
  • Customizing tire design specifications into manufacturing specifications and giving technical guidance during limited production phase
  • Training production staff on processing specifications
  • Developing critical production control points for products to maintain quality
  • Leading in solving products quality problems
  • Providing technical data relating to the product and process during new production equipment acquisition and commissioning
  • Identifying and implementing product's manufacturing processes improvements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or its equivalent)
  • Product, process & packaging knowledge expertise
  • Project management skills
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar or comparable role
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, Attention to detail, problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • High standards of ethics and values
Treasury Accountant

Main purpose of the job

Develop plans and strategies to ensure availability, security and utilisation of funds to meet current and future obligations at minimum risk and maximum yield.

Among others, key accountabilities will include:-
  • Issuing and updating cash flow forecasts to allow strategic and tactical decisions within the parameters of available cash resources.
  • Reviewing cash balances and preparing consolidated cash position reports.
  • Developing and maintaining hedging strategies in multi-currency transactions and analysing foreign exchange regulations for compliance and to minimize financial risks.
  • Performing foreign exchange risk hedging and hedge accounting for derivatives.
  • Evaluating requests from internal clients and issuing bank guarantee's & letters of credit to suppliers to ensure that payments to the provider are secured.
  • Negotiating treasury transactions involving foreign currency sales/buying, foreign exchange hedging with banks and other players in the market.
  • Investing surplus funds at competitive rates locally and / or internationally to ensure maximum returns are generated from cash resources available.
  • Ensuring timely reconciliations of bank accounts and other facilities and prompt follow up and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Preparing exchange rate forecast for use in budgeting and accounting for multi currency transactions.
  • Reviewing bank balances and initiating repatriation of surplus funds from subsidiaries and branches as per set thresholds.
  • Leading, guiding and developing staff to ensure a competent and motivated team.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A Bachelors Degree in Accounting/ Finance or a related business field.
  • A Certified Public Accountant ( CPA(K), / ACCA or equivalent) and be a member of ICPAK
  • At least 3 years relevant working experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in a comparable role
  • Experience in a busy Treasury environment in a bank will be an added advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems – working knowledge of SAP Version 6.0 will be an added advantage
  • Sound Knowledge and experience in Banking/Financial Institutions relations and Risk management
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills

Cost Accountant

Main purpose of the job

Implement and maintain accurate product costs, prices, and profit margins.

Among others, key accountabilities will include:-
  • Establishing and updating Standard costs of manufactured and purchased items, and ensuring minimal variance between actual and standard costs.
  • Implementing the overhead absorption rates, product routings, operation rates and surcharge rates.
  • Advising on product profitability and pricing structures, evaluating sanctions and monitoring contract prices renewals.
  • Preparation of financial reports for decision making including the Monthly Budget Control Report (MBCR), Cost of Sales Budgets and Inventories Cash Flow Budget.
  • Modelling of costs and sales data for purposes of decision making by management.
  • Participate in Work-In-Process, Engineering Stocks and Finished Stocks periodic stock take exercises verification of fixed assets and project evaluations.
  • Reviewing and analysing weekly and monthly operating costs against budget and analysing any significant variances.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A Bachelors Degree in Accounting/ Finance or a related business field
  • A Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or qualified Accountant (CPA(K), / ACCA or equivalent) and be a member of ICPAK
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience in a manufacturing environment preferably a comparable role
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems – working knowledge of SAP Version 6.0 will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Customs procedures and the EA Customs Management Act
  • Sound knowledge in internal controls, and management reporting

SAP-FICO

Job Overview:

SAP Business Analyst (FICO) will work with various business units to develop solutions, support production environment and review new applications to support finance function.

Among others, key accountabilities will include:-
  • Providing business analysis and process redesign expertise in SAP-FICO
  • Ensuring SAP configuration, implementation and support in an SAP All in one environment
  • Configuring SAP functionality to satisfy business requirements and business process design
  • Preparing functional specifications for reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms and workflows
  • Supporting peripheral systems and interfaces related to Finance business
  • Designing and executing test plans to ensure that business requirements and functional specifications are implemented properly and meet business objectives
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with SAP-FICO support in a commercial environment.
  • Knowledge and sound application of integration points between (FICO) and other SAP modules (SD, MM, PP, HCM).
  • Exposure to other SAP modules and user training will be an added advantage.
