High-profile cases. High-impact role.
Competition Enforcement Directors
Up to £85,000
London
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is the UK’s consumer and competition authority and a world-leading competition enforcement agency whose high impact and innovative work is recognised across the globe. Our mission is to make markets work well for consumers, and we are rigorous in tackling unfair and uncompetitive practices and bringing those on the wrong side of competition law to account.
This is a rare chance to use your heavyweight experience in the field of competition enforcement to deliver substantial benefits for consumers, while gaining an insight into a world-class regulatory environment. Our record is that fewer than five percent of parties against whom the OFT has made decisions have been successful in overturning those decisions on liability at appeal. You will provide leadership and vision to teams handling high-profile competition and enforcement cases, deal with external parties and deliver quality results on time and within budget .
As well as knowledge of the enforcement of UK or EU competition law, you should have experience of setting case strategy and ideally an understanding of relevant litigation, contract and administrative law. Experience of leading teams, negotiating with parties and other stakeholders and managing the delivery of complex projects within defined resources is essential. You’ll need to be able to get the heart of detailed strategic issues and have the credibility to represent the OFT at the highest levels.
