ADB seeks qualified professionals to fill this vacancy in its Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD):

Safeguards Specialist, Re-advertisement
Job Purpose:
Support operational coordination on involuntary resettlement or indigenous peoples safeguards policies and requirements to Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) and provide specific inputs to selected PSOD projects to ensure compliance with these policies during project preparation and implementation. Monitor and report on project compliance with ADB's safeguards policies compliance and coordinate the planning and development of ADB social safeguards policies within PSOD and across ADB. Contribute to the evaluation, improvement and dissemination of ADB's social safeguards policies. Support ADB's goal of poverty reduction and sustainable development and provide assistance as needed for applying social safeguards and knowledge of international good safeguards practices to the development of tasks. Work within general policies, principles and goals, working directly with clients. Work with broad policies and objectives, working directly with clients, with supervision for critical tasks.
Immediate Reporting Relationships:
The position reports to: Director, PSOD
The following staff positions report to the Safeguards Specialist: National Staff and Administrative Staff
Relevant Experience and Other Requirements:

Specific criteria include
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in social assessment and involuntary resettlement and indigenous peoples safeguards work, or related area and in project administration
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- International experience working in development in several countries, coordinating and working in multi-disciplinary teams
Education Requirements:

Master's Degree, or equivalent, in Anthropology, Sociology, Applied Social Science, or other related fields; or University degree and at least 5 years ADB work experience.
